Summer is the season of outdoor activities and picnics. It’s also a time for us to come face-to-face with some unpleasant pests who are out and about in warmer weather. Here are some tips on how to identify and deal with cockroaches, spiders, termites and other pests that might be creeping around your home this summer:
Pest control means bug checks and spray-downs. Here, At Manly Warringah Pest Control, we have inspected thousands of homes and businesses for over 40 years in Sydney.
It’s a good idea to get your home inspected on a regular basis.
It is especially important during the summertime when bugs are more active. We know summer hasn’t started yet ( at the end of this blog)
Cockroaches are most active at night and prefer to live in damp and warm places. The best way to prevent an infestation is by keeping your kitchen clean, storing food properly and cleaning up spills immediately.
Store food in sealed containers or in the refrigerator
Wash dishes and clean counters regularly
Clean up spills right away
Cockroaches are a big pest for the summer. They can live in the tiniest spaces and get into your home through holes as small as 1/8 of an inch. Cockroaches also like to live in dark, damp and warm places where food is available, so they’re often found in kitchens and bathrooms. You may have noticed that cockroaches usually prefer to come out at night – this is because they don’t like light! If there are any lights on in your house during the evening or night time hours, you may notice that cockroaches are attracted to them. This is because they like to be near light sources and use them as a guide when they explore their surroundings outside of their nests (or hiding spots).
The best way to keep spiders at bay is by preventing them from entering your home. This means checking for cracks, gaps, or holes that are large enough for a spider to squeeze through. Inspect your home for cracks in the foundation, around windows and doors, and in the basement. You should also look for gaps under the eaves and where pipes go into your home. Finally, look for holes in the ground that might be entrances to an underground burrow that could lead all kinds of creepy crawlies inside!
To get rid of spiders in the yard and inside of your home, remove other pests from your property. For example, if you’re seeing a lot of cockroaches, you can try spraying down the area with an insecticide made specifically for them.
With over 40 years of experience, you can trust that we will find termites in case there are some. We have seen firsthand the damage Termites can do to homes and it is not fun. Get in touch today and let us do a professional Termite inspection.
So what do you do? The easiest thing is to keep up on your pest control. Inspect the home for cracks, gaps or holes that could let pests in and make sure food sources are not available. Get rid of other pest infestations outside so they don’t come inside with you. If you are seeing signs of termites, go get an inspection done by a professional as soon as possible before it gets worse!
